SENIOR CONTROL AND AUTOMATION ENGINEER

The Senior Control and Automation Engineer will be required to evaluate system requirements, design and optimize solutions within HyET Hydrogen B.V. for the renewable energy industry. The Control and Automation Engineer will be part of the Software, Electrical and Control Engineering Group, whereas it will be required to perform basic, detail engineering as well as production, commissioning and support of complex systems within the field of high-pressure hydrogen compression and purification. The successful candidate will be able to provide simple modular solutions according to system requirements and support the testing facilities.

The Senior Control and Automation Engineer will be required to evaluate system requirements, design and optimize solutions within HyET Hydrogen B.V. for the renewable energy industry. The Control and Automation Engineer will be part of the Software, Electrical and Control Engineering Group, whereas it will be required to perform basic, detail engineering as well as production, commissioning and support of complex systems within the field of high-pressure hydrogen compression and purification. The successful candidate will be able to provide simple modular solutions according to system requirements and support the testing facilities.

The Control and Automation Engineer will be responsible for the process requirements, design, operation and implementation from inception through to start up and validation of both internal and external designs as well as instrumentation and control devices used in the process control flow. Knowledge of industrial electrical design, process flow diagrams, manufacturing, safety and certification requirements are essential to successfully execute projects and tasks on a daily basis. The Control and Automation Engineers will collaborate with external vendors and clients as well as various departments all within HyET Hydrogen B.V. including R&D, System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Testing and Production. At HyET Hydrogen, you will work on diverse and interesting projects with an international and sustainable impact. Working alongside a team of engineers and project managers to successfully execute projects.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • B.E. / B.TECH. / B.S. – Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a degree in a similar field.
  • At least +10 year of applicable experience.
  • Experience reading electrical drawings, PFD’s, P&ID’s.
  • Experience integrating and tuning instrumentation and control hardware and software (PID).
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming (OOP) and functional programming (FP) paradigms.
  • Experience (at least one) of the following programming languages: CodeSys STL, Python (+3.6), C (99), C++11/14/17, Go, Scala, Java.
  • Proficiency in English; Written and Spoken.
  • Good technical, documentation, administration and reporting skills.
  • Analytical thinker with good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An individual who is self-motivated, positive and can take initiative to improve processes and systems.
  • An individual that is interested in joining a fast-growing innovative team looking to become a market leader in the hydrogen field on a global market.
  • An individual that is flexible and can move with the organization due to changing client requests and market demand fluctuations.
  • Willing to travel in Europe and around the world to clients and key suppliers for a few days up to a couple of weeks.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Key activities within the scope of a control and automation engineers at HyET Hydrogen includes, but is not limited to;Activity planning, work scheduling, budgeting and monitoring.
  • Preparation and review of PFD’s, P&ID’s, HAZOP’s, balance of plant specifications, electrical drawings, safety philosophies, design calculation, technical drawings, process datasheets, equipment lists, cause & effect diagrams, control philosophies, shutdown philosophies, operation & maintenance manuals, etc.
  • Document, log and track: requests, defects and updates on deliverables.
  • Preparation, review and support integration and operational manuals.
  • Support system and electrical engineers in their integration processes.
  • All systems are up and running seamlessly.
  • Preparation and review of FAT protocols according to QoS standards.
  • Support R&D engineers in their effort to develop and improve the technology even further.

 

HIERARCHY

The Senior Control and Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Lead Software and Electronics Engineer at HyET Hydrogen B.V. and forms part of the software, electrical and control engineering group.

 

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES

  • Design, conduct and report FAT protocols on multiple systems.
  • Continuously design, build and maintain HyET’s core control libraries and their dependencies.
  • Design, build and maintain applications on top of HyET’s core control library.
  • Design, build and maintain HMI.
  • Drive the scheduled hardware and software upgrades on multiple systems.
  • Tune PID controllers according to specific requirements.
